  • How much does it cost to attend class at Bridgeport ATA?

    Following the free trial course, the student will be assessed on a variety of factors. Pricing will be based on the program that is deemed most appropriate for the student.

  • How often/when are classes are held?

    Classes take place each weekday evening, however, we encourage you to visit our schedule page for full class schedule information. Enrolled students are welcome to attend as many classes as desired.

  • How long does it take to get a black belt?

    This is different for every student and is based on individual performance and the pace of student development. We encourage every student to set the goal of achieving a black belt. Perseverance, hard work, and proper training are required.

  • What do I need to bring to my first class?

    Students should wear comfortable athletic clothes. We ask that you arrive a few minutes early so we can introduce you to the facility and programs.

  • How can a student earn achievements or advance in rank?

    This depends on the student and pace of advancement. Students must earn three stripes before they can test for the next belt. Testings are held every eight weeks and all stripes must be earned prior to testing.

  • Is martial arts just for kids?

    No, Bridgeport ATA offers a variety of programs that are suitable for students of all ages.

  • I have a physical impairment or disability, can I still take martial arts?

    Yes, Bridgeport ATA can accommodate a variety of special-needs students, including students in wheelchairs.

  • Do students at Bridgeport ATA participate in martial arts tournaments?

    Yes, there are five regional tournaments each year and Bridgeport ATA students are encouraged to attend and compete, but it is not required for advancement.
